Annual Meeting 2012: Charleston, South Carolina, January 3-7, 2012
The American Microscopical Society (AMS) holds its annual meetings jointly with meetings of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB, formerly American Society of Zoologists) and The Crustacean Society. This year AMS is sponsoring a joint social in conjunction with a number of division of SICB, and we are planning to have Dr. Mary Rice recognized as our Guest of Honor. This year AMS is co-sponsoring three symposia (see below). AMS members present contributed-papers and posters. The Society’s annual luncheon, Business meeting and Invertebrate Biology Editors meeting are regularly scheduled at the annual meetings.

INVITATION TO SUBMIT TO COMPLEMENTING SESSIONS AT SICB/AMS ANNUAL MEETING, JANUARY 3-17, 2012, CHARLESTON, SC
AMS is the promary sponsor of a society-wide symposium for the SICB annual meeting in January 2012, entitled ‘DISPERSAL OF MARINE ORGANISMS’. If you or your students work in the area of marine dispersal or connectivity, we hope that you will consider making a presentation at SICB this coming January (2012) as a contributed paper or poster in the complementing sessions to the symposium. Pending final notice from NSF, we anticipate having $1000 USD available to help support graduate student and postdoctoral presenters in the complementing sessions, so we especially encourage their participation. Students/postdocs mist be the presenting author to be eligible for this support. We will accommodate as many symposium-related talks and posters as possible in these complementing sessions.
(2) Poecilogony as a window on larval evolution: Polymorphism of developmental mode within marine invertebrate species - Organizer E. Knott, supported by DEDB, DEE, DIZ & AMS.
(3) Barnacle Biology: Essential Aspects and Contemporary Approaches - Organizer J. Zardus, supported by DEE, DIZ, AMS & TCS.
